About Me

My experience includes: Successfully tutoring students across a wide range of levels, from secondary school (including extensive IB experience) through to university undergraduates.Serving as a Teaching Demonstrator for first-year Physics students at the University of Nottingham, honing my ability to explain complex concepts clearly.Proven ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners, including students with special educational needs.Deep involvement in competitive mathematics (Olympiads), both as a competitor and coach, offering specialized guidance for high-achieving students.I am committed to creating a patient, encouraging, and focused learning environment where every student feels empowered to ask questions, deepen their understanding, and succeed.

I'm a friendly, experienced and very understanding tutor. I'm also an engineer and a Post Doc at the University of Nottingham. Everyone is welcomed and everyone can learn. I've tutored students from grade 8 to university level, I've worked as a demonstrator for first year Physics students at the University of Nottingham and I have experience with teaching children and teenagers with special needs. I also have extensive experience with competitive maths and physics (Olympiads) both at coaching and competing, in case that's your cup of tea!

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

Aug 2021 - Present

Post doc at the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham.

PHYSICS PHD RESEARCHER

Oct 2015 - Current

Currently writing the final chapter of my thesis. My focused on single atom manipulation using Non-Contact Atomic Force Microscopy (NC-AFM) on the GaAs(110) surface at low temperature and ultra high vaccum conditions. PhD done at the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham.

ENGINEERING DEGREE

2006 - 2012

Graduated from POLI (Polytechnic School of Engineering from the University of São  Paulo). POLI is a 5 (up to 7 year) engineering course, arguably considered equivalent to UK’s Masters degree.
Final average mark equivalent to UK’s 2.1 honours.

Jan 2016 - Jan 2019

1ST YEAR PHYSICS LAB MONITOR

Monitored students from 1st year’s Physics labs at the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham. I also marked they work on a weekly basis.

Feb 2015 - Jul 2015

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

Worked at Cortex-Intelligence using proprietary software to analyse big data from clients. Used internal and crawled data. Clients would hire cortex-intelligence and outsource key data analysis. Was responsible for Rede Globo (largest broadcast network in Brazil), Suzano (largest pulp and paper company in Latin America) and BASF accounts.Lead a team of 4 people (interns and analysts).

Jan 2007 - Jul 2009

SCIENCE INTERNSHIP - MATH DEPT.

• Mentorship-like project in which we would study real analysis and subjects such as group theory, number theory and some topology.

• Example of activities where alternative proofs to well-established theorems such as for example the Gauss theorem.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW/ASSOCIATE

Currently a Post doc at the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham. Research interest include Machine Learning applications into single-atom manipulation using Non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy, density functional theory (DFT).

PRESENT

MATH TUTOR

I have had the privilege to teach from grade 8 to university level. I've help students with learning disabilities deal with focus issues.  Students who were a year behind and were able to catch up and I've trained strong contenders for top placements at Olympiad (Math's competitions) achieve their goals. Please note that this is done outside of working hours of my Postdoctoral Research position at the University of Nottingham.
